Fight back!

On Saturday i went out leaving $840 in the account, Sunday morning i woke up with $540 in the account - Not nice. Sunday morning i went to bed with $440 in the account - Shit.

The $300 downswing was due to playing pissed - the extra $100 spunked was due to a $10 re-buy tournament offering too much value. With a $4k first prize (4 day trip to Atlantic City and entry to a WPT boot camp thing) i thought 'i fancy a piece of that'. Then, when only 72 runners had turned up at start time i thought, 'shit me; i HAVE to play in this'. With a $10 rebuy and a big first prize you expect people to play silly for the first hour and try and build a 10-20k stack before the end of the hour when re-buys stop. Then you would expect that the prizepool reflects the value of the tournament, say 100-300 rebuys.

NOT ON THIS SITE. At the break, only 46 players were left, people actually didn't rebuy!! The value was tremendous and only me and about 6 others knew how to play this, SUPER FAST trying to double, triple, quadrouple stacks from the off. Well, six buy-ins later and the balance of the account down to $450 i thought it really isn't my lucky day :).

And it wasn't i busted out with 66 going for a Johnny Big Bollox move and ran into AA just at the wrong time. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh well, this MTT is on every Sunday so i will deffo be playing it again because value + fish = ME THERE.

Soooo, needed to find a gear change and get the challenge back on the road, played 3x$50 Heads Ups and won them all so the roll is on a more respectable and playable $600 ish. $50 HU with a $450 roll is pushing the 5% in play rule a smidgen LOOOOOOOOOOOL but i pretty much thought the shit or bust approach would be the only way of getting back. Should have a $1000 roll already but for the weekend's exploits, but the fight back is well and truly back on.

The mighty Builder - an extraordinary talent is tearing up the BF MTT's at the moment and i can see him cashing at the World Series very soon :).

Tilted..............

So the balance has taken a knock over the weekend and Mr Sharkscope says i am on TILT. :) Well i suppose dropping a few $'s does suggest that but Mr Scope should realise that Jack Daniels is to blame and not me - anyways, i don't give two hoots - i will get it back :)

I Remember...........

I remember coming in last night very drunk, i also remember playing poker, after a flashback this morning i also remember someone typing in LOL in the chat box after i had made a donkesque play.

What i don't remember was how much damage i had done.

But i do now.........

One of my accounts had been cleared - it only had £250 in and to be honest i cant even remember playing on this account but the statement page says i did and my allaby (sp.)would not stand up in court.

What i cannot believe is that i started to play on the $50 to $10,000 account - i tried to keep that one for blog bestest and aside as a sort of focus and challenge. Somebody did a small fuck up last night - the roll did stand at $840 and was going well - let us just say it now stands at less than $550 so some pissed up fool spunked $300 on roulette and poker last night. :)

I know why i did it, had a fookin awful row with a female friend but that is all sorted now, but reacted by playing poker when pissed/on uber tilt and steamin'. This is stoooooopid but something always seems to draw me to the tables - think i sort of feel safe there or have a chance to prove myself or perhaps like a bit of a gamboooooooool to take my mind off of other things.....................Anyway, one step forward two steps back, i have to include this shocker in the accounting and will try and learn from this - know i will not - no man, woman or animal is stopping me from playing when i have had a skinfull and fancy it - :( need a minder.

Still, least i didn't destroy it completely hey? It is a headfuck though because i was about to be able to play decent stakes and will be in a rush to get it all back ASAP - this could lead to uber tilt II very soon - but lets let the future sort this fine mess out.

About to watch the Carling Cup with a Subway and a lot of Coca Cola, got a few mates coming round so might get back on the old virtual tables before bedtime tonight and claw a bit back.

Shit the bed

Before i can get on the Scots the bloooooody Italians have scored a 3rd try - 21-0 down at home - and happy to be English - at least unitl the Irish teach us a lesson in Rugby later :)

I quit........

Not the $50 to $10,000 challange but deffo the King of the Hill aim, i have been King of the Lump in this and realised i have spent $200 towards the prize pool with no return - it was a long term aim to qualify for the final STT in this but i have not got the patience. Roll conservation was and is an aim of this and i don't think its too clever trying to win this thingy so bye bye King of the Hill u got me beat.

The roll has been gradually getting bigger. Starting on $50 i built it up to $500 in under 100 games but then that run stopped and it took me another 100 games to get it to around $750 mark. After a few HU's and a couple of top 20 finishes in 500+ runner MTT's the role sits on $823.42 - and it has never been bigger than this.

Really want it to get to $1000 because i can start to play some decent stake Stts and HU and i think it will be a hell of alot more fun - LOOOOOOOOOL the Italians have just scored against the Scots 18 seconds in - :) Anyways, still trying to play in the rules but have changed them :) cash and HU are allowed but the 5% risk/roll rule is the biggy. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck me - those Italian's have just done it again - 2 trys up already in 3 mins - think i might get on the Scots now at a decent price cus these Italians aint got the staying power.

In other news i want a holiday.

Celebrate in style..........

For today is National bubble fuck me in the arse day.

Trying to play this King of the Hill thingy where you have to come in the top two on 3/4 consecutive tables for a bonza payday. Well i keep finishing third at all different levels and it is becoming a tiresome pain. Thought i would mix it up and play a 40 runner MTT with the top 4 winning a $100 + $10 entry to a bigger MTT - i came 5th!!!!!!!LOOOOOOOL.

Not too much fun playing for 3/4 hours and losing money when so close but to be fair i would play A game poker up until the bubble, that means playing pretty tight for me, then approaching the bubble mix it up a bit pushing or folding picking on stacks that should not call unless holding AA, then, just when i have got right back in to it i make a bad play. One bad push (or one too many) when i have built my stack back to a playable level and all the good work donked off in a moment of madness. AHHHHHHHHHHH WELLLLLLLLLL. Roll = $730.56 and i wanna get up to a $1000 so i can play decent games. So GL me.

Lock me up.......

And bin the key. I am breaking all the rules. So, played cash, $50 HU, and a new couple of games called Craps and Roulette!!!!!!!!

I was happy playing away in the King of the Hill format and kept bubbbbblin. This tillted me somewhat and i needed to let off some steam and address the luck/fortune measures that were not being balanced.

Think i spun $30 into $130 on rouletted hitting number 8 when i needed it. And on Craps, which is my favourite table game, spun $50 into about $125. Then after getting bored at work whilst losing a $30 HU trying to represent the flush on the river against Villains Trips :( he still called - i decided that because i was not concentrating i should not be playing - but a bit of 1/2 nl cash wouldnt hurt :) so i sat down with $50 on a 3 seated turbo table and started to play super Agg. I was picking up all the little pots with steals, bluffs and reraises and built up to $80, then i did a stooopid bluff and donked my way back to $50. The best thing about this bluff was that i was now the table loon and everyone wanted a piece of me.

Next hand i get AA - raise to 4 one caller, flop 447 (2spades) i go for a check raise when Villain bets $5 i raise it up to $15 and he calls - turn a 10 of spades - mmmmmmmmmm. I didn't want to see this spade as i didnt hold one with my red aces and could well be behind. So i pushed :) and got called by AK off - one spade, the river was a heart and i was up to $100, then a really funny hand happened.

On the button (3 players remember) i am dealt 55 and raise to 3, one fold then BB reraises to 7. He is only playing $35 so i don't really give a shit about putting them all in here for a coin toss to finish the day off but decide to flat call and play the flop.

Flop comes K 5 2 (rainbow) trips, quality, now lets try and get them all in :), he bets - i push - he calls with KQ soooooooooted.

turn

K

:(

river 5 :) for quads and i leave the table about $100 up.

I am playing gambboooool poker and it is paying off. Think the stakes i am playing at are doing my head in and i am getting bored. The roll sits at $728.56 at the moment - it peaked at $740 a while back but i actually donked it down to $450 at one point. Some of the beats are crazy at the $10-$30 level because the players are so shit. Beatable - oh yes yes yes, but when you play ABC poker you cannot stop sick beats and the tilt monster - this is what happened to me.

Now, this is a typical hand. I get dealt AJ sooted in late position. This is the first hand of a STT, 10 seated and blinds at 10/20 - stacks 1000. SO, you don't wanna go broke with AJ sooted :).

MP leads out with an 80 bet and all fold to me - i call wanting to see the flop. SB and BB both fold. Flop comes J 4 7 rainbow and it is looking good for me. Villain bets 200 and i want to know where i stand so re-raise to 450 expecting a fold. Villain pushes - now at any other stakes i fold think QQ, KK or AA. At these stakes i call - i am trying to work out the WHY? - and Villain turns over 10 10 leaving himself 2 outs. Either he is a great player representing AA or a total fish who cannot lay down PPs. My play (the call) was poor but profitable but i hate playing shit poker.

I am going to move up sakes and lose to better players :).

Whoooooooooops

Golden period over, the lever well and truly released and afer the great start came the shity period. Just when i decided to up stakes - SUPERB.

Went deep in a few MTT's - getiing into the top 25 out of 600+ runners but would then play a crazy hand because the blinds were getting big and waste four hours of good work pushing with ATC's. This also put me on tilt and from starting the day with a $700+ roll i ended it with only $450 left - not all blown but i was breaking every rule - cash, $50 HU's, out of the role etc. etc. worst of all i was playing badly and i knew it................................

So, with $450 left i rocked up for a while, played within my limits and built it back up to $640 - crazy. I have found a new game to pay too - it is called King of the Hill and is sort of a cross between STT and MTT - a four level kind of comp and you can buyin for $3+.3 or $20+5 depending on where you want to start KILLER RAKE at the $20 stakes but winners (top 2) are put through to another level and on the 4th level you play a 10 seater STT but the prize pool has been added with +$1600 - AWESOME! I think i will win one of these - might take me 40 goes at the $20+5 starting level i reckon but the value added is superb and it offers the chance to get the roll +$1000 and rocking.

So, plans are to play this King of the Hill until busto, will mix it up a bit but that is th eplan stan.

RULES IS RULES IS RULES

Ok, so I needed some rules. Rules are made to be broken, but I think they help focus what is possible and what is not and develop good traits/intentions.

So,

1) NO CASH – no playing cash until the bankroll reaches $2500. Think this is the most important one for me – cash tables are my weakness – because the blinds don’t go up I see no ‘end’ and try and win EVERY pot I play in with the ‘You cannot possibly call this bet’ ideology. This works well for HU, STT, MTT but not cash. So I will stay away.

2) The 5% bankroll rule. A rule of thumb often applied to build up a roll is never to play with +5% of your bankroll at any one time. I will try and follow this as a guideline – even if it means missing out on value MTT’s.

3) RAKE – I don’t get any on this site just pissy points and invites to freerolls. So, rake cannot and will not be included to the roll. I think this makes the task more difficult – well, it naturally does, but if I can beat the tables and the rake long-term them I will be well ahead of the game.

4) Cut down on HU. I love HU play but the rake will cripple me long-term 20+2 is shocking, meaning having to win 7/10 to show small gain – this makes me sick – I also don’t like the 5 handed STT’s but will have to improve. I think I play my best/most profitable poker in 20/30 runner STT’s and large field MTT’s so even though these are the variance fields that is where I will play up to $2,500+.

5) Take notes. Player notes are very important and even just putting ‘Wank’, ‘Crazy’ etc etc is better than nothing. Obviously my terminology could be improved but spotting the sharks from the fish will be important.

Anyways, that is a start. Played a bit over the weekend. Bank stood at $740 at one point but down to $650. Not down to bad play – I did push with 6,6 late on in a multi (out in 29th out of 500+ runners I think) but this was an elaborate squeeze play. A serial limper had ‘limped’ and I knew I could pick up his bet, the SB and BB if I pushed or get a call which had a fighting chance. I had a 30k stack, blinds were 2k4k and about to go up. When BB called I thought shit the bed, limper folded and I presumed I was up against a big hand – I was – the mighty JK OFF – what a cunt – J on the river sealed my fate but pre flop I was 51% favourite and can’t believe the call.

I am a pretty tight agg. player if we are going with labels but if I feel I have the beating of the table I loosen right up and try and run it. When you play a loose game you often get called and show wank – but this is more fun than waiting for AA and KK.

I spunked a bit of the roll playing a 12k gtd. $20 rebuy – I like to go crazy in the first hour and get a stack built – as soon as I hit x3 or x4 starting stack I slow down a bit but still let the cards do the talking. Starting on 2500 chips I quickly got up to 8,000 then went for a 24,000 pot three way with AK on a K high board and lost to a flush draw, got back in and went built up to 8k again when I lost another all-in three way pot with top pair good kicker against the flush draw – same cunt again. Once I had pumped $60 into the prize fund I thought it was all going a bit anti bankroll management and died a sorry death with 88 v AQ. The play on the tables was beatable but the roll could not really take the re-buy(s) so will have to keep out of this buy-in for a bit. SOOOOOOOOOOO FUNNY, I am actually starting to protect the roll, I even stepped up to $20 Heads up pmsl!!! The play was better than $10 HU and I thought I had stepped out of the comfort zone – I joke – but the $10 players really are shite, at least the $20 players know what a check raise, stop and go move etc is.

Right – try and get in 20 hours this week – really want to start playing $50 games but not until I break $1000. The start has been super quick and I think I am due some Bad Beats, but he who dares Rodders!
